How does Zephyr Education help the children?
We supply or pay for uniforms, stationery and all other school essentials. We also supply a laptop or iPad if the school requires families to provide their own devices.

Does Zephyr pay other school expenses?
Yes. We pay fees for excursions and school camps as well as sports fees so the children don’t miss out on these important activities. We do not pay tuition fees for private schools.

Does Zephyr help children affected by domestic and family violence who are not in their mother’s custody?
Yes. Although shelters only provide accommodation for women and children, some of the other organisations we help provide support to fathers or grandparents who are caring for children affected by DFV.

What makes Zephyr different from other DFV support groups?
None of the shelters we help is funded to supply children with urgently needed educational support in the way we do. We focus on responding rapidly so children arrive at their new school in the right uniform and with the same stationery and other essentials as their classmates. In nearly all cases we respond within 48 hours.

How much of my donation will be spent on educational support?
Our charity is run entirely by volunteers and does not pay rent or power costs. This means almost every dollar donated to Zephyr Education is spent directly on children's educational needs.

When was Zephyr Education founded?
Zephyr was created in Queensland in 2013 by four founding members, originally as Zephyr Foundation. It became Zephyr Education Inc in 2016, and in June 2025 became Zephyr Education Limited — a Company Limited by Guarantee operating in every Australian State and Territory.

How many children does Zephyr Education assist?
In 2024-2025 we provided over $1,100,000 in support including:
› Uniforms for 2,435 children
› Resource fees for 350 children
› 578 laptops and iPads
› 2,499 school bags
› 1,857 pairs of school shoes
› 2,100 stationery packs

What will my donation provide?
$35 — School Backpack

Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes. Zephyr Education has been endorsed by the Australian Taxation Office as a deductible gift recipient. All donations of $2 or more are tax deductible. We will send you a tax receipt shortly after receiving your donation.

Can I assist in any other way?
Zephyr has more than 50 volunteers who assist in various ways. The main ongoing need is financial support. About half our funding comes from community grants and business partnerships, the rest from direct donations. If you can assist with fundraising please contact us.
